XTECH e il Collettivo Sinapsi: Connessioni Sinaptiche al Bunker di Torino
Il prossimo 12 ottobre 2024, il collettivo Sinapsi torna a Torino con M.A.G.- Music Art Gallery. XTECH sarà l’headliner di un evento da un impatto sensoriale e artistico unico, capace di coniugare musica elettronica, arte visiva e interazioni creative.
Pensato per portarvi a spasso tra diverse esperienze sensoriali, alla scoperta di nuove sonorità e forme espressive, M.A.G.- Music Art Gallery l’evento firmato dal collettivo Sinapsi ritorna a Torino ad ottobre e vede come protagonista XTECH, pioniere della musica tekno europea, che porterà il suo sound travolgente nella suggestiva cornice allestita dal collettivo.
Questo gioco è pensato per liberare il partecipante da ogni forma di sovrastruttura di pensiero, invitandolo a farsi guidare dall’impulso e dall’immaginazione, immergendosi così in un’esperienza intensa e autentica fatta di musica, arte, performance ed energie.
Sinapsi: Unione di Arte e Musica
Sinapsi nasce con un obiettivo chiaro: creare connessioni sinaptiche attraverso la fruizione simultanea di diverse forme d’arte. Questo progetto ha preso vita con la volontà di unire artisti di ogni disciplina, offrendo performance live che trascendono i confini tradizionali dei club. Il risultato è stato il progetto M.A.G. , dove la musica elettronica si fonde con installazioni interattive, mostre d’arte e performance dal vivo, trasformando lo spazio in un vero e proprio laboratorio artistico.
In soli due anni, Sinapsi ha coinvolto più di 200 artisti da ogni ambito disciplinare, dimostrando come la collaborazione tra forme di espressione differenti possa dare vita a esperienze immersive e senza precedenti. La particolarità di ogni evento risiede nella cura per i dettagli, dall’allestimento delle sale ai temi musicali, che trovano una continuità tra sonorità elettroniche e atmosfere artistiche.
XTECH: La storia dell’ Acid Tekno
Protagonista della serata, XTECH, è uno dei nomi più influenti della scena underground europea. Il suo viaggio artistico inizia nel 1993 a Marsiglia, dove co-fonda il sound system OQP, una realtà che ha subito lasciato un’impronta significativa nel panorama dei free party. Nel 1997, fonda la leggendaria etichetta OKUPE PRODUCTION, che si è affermata come punto di riferimento per la musica elettronica alternativa, producendo oltre cento dischi in vinile, album, DVD e compilation con artisti di tutto il mondo.
XTECH incarna l’essenza dell’ Acid Tekno, una musica caratterizzata da intensità grezza e groove irresistibile. Le sue influenze spaziano dal rock alla trance, dal hip hop alla dancehall, creando un mix unico che trasporta il pubblico in un viaggio sonoro in cui i confini tra i generi si dissolvono. Le sue performance, siano esse DJ set, sono pura energia, capaci di coinvolgere chiunque si trovi sul dancefloor, trasmettendo lo spirito autentico della rave culture con il suo mantra: #RAVEON.
Abbiamo intervistato in esclusiva XTECH qualche giorno prima dell’evento M.A.G.
OKUPE PRODUCTION è stata fondata nel 1997 ed è diventata un punto di riferimento per la scena Tekno. Cosa ti ha spinto a creare la tua etichetta e come pensi che abbia contribuito alla crescita di questo genere?
Abbiamo creato OKUPE PRODUCTION perché volevamo un laboratorio musicale per sperimentare le nostre idee di una tekno speciale, un genere nuovo, più o meno nostro. Avevamo tutti una formazione musicale ampia, che ci ha permesso di sviluppare insieme suoni diversi e variegati per la prima volta. Forse il nostro contributo alla crescita di questo nuovo genere deriva proprio dalla diversità dei suoni che utilizziamo e dagli stili che mescoliamo.
Guardando indietro, OKUPE ha pubblicato oltre cento vinili e numerose compilation. C’è un progetto o una release di cui sei particolarmente orgoglioso? Qual è stato il suo impatto sulla scena elettronica?
Tutte le nostre release sono speciali per noi. Per quanto riguarda l’impatto sulla scena elettronica, credo sia stato piuttosto positivo 😊. La nostra passione è la musica, e se riusciamo a motivare nuovi artisti a crescere, alla fine siamo felici.
La tua etichetta è stata un trampolino di lancio per molti artisti emergenti. Come scegli i talenti da includere nel roster di OKUPE? Cosa cerchi in un nuovo artista o sound?
Ci piace la diversità, la novità e instaurare un buon feeling con la persona che entra a far parte della nostra “famiglia”. È semplice: cerchiamo qualcosa di reale, autentico.
Quali sono state le principali sfide che hai affrontato con OKUPE negli ultimi anni, soprattutto con i cambiamenti nell’industria musicale e nel modo in cui il pubblico fruisce la musica?
I principali cambiamenti riguardano il modo di acquistare e ascoltare la musica, che è cambiato molto negli anni, così come l’approccio delle nuove generazioni.
La scena Tekno continua a evolversi. In che modo OKUPE si adatta a queste trasformazioni mantenendo al contempo le sue radici underground?
Cerchiamo sempre di mantenere il “sound Okupe”, ma allo stesso tempo siamo aperti a nuove idee, seguendo l’evoluzione musicale attuale quando necessario. Però a volte è bello anche guardare indietro e riscoprire ciò che è stato.
Come vedi il ruolo delle etichette indipendenti nel panorama musicale odierno? Pensi che abbiano ancora lo stesso peso e impatto di quando hai iniziato, o la dinamica è cambiata?
Oggi è più facile lavorare in modo indipendente grazie a tutti gli strumenti che abbiamo a disposizione, come internet e le tecnologie AI. Se sei sveglio, ce la puoi fare!
Il 2024 sarà un anno ricco di sorprese per OKUPE? Possiamo aspettarci collaborazioni particolari, nuovi formati o eventi legati all’etichetta?
Certamente! Basta seguirci su Instagram per scoprire tutte le nostre novità. Sono in arrivo nuovi artisti (tra cui la prima donna del roster), collaborazioni importanti, ristampe, nuovo merchandising, serate e tanto altro…
OKUPE ha una lunga storia di uscite in vinile. Con il ritorno in auge del formato, come valuti l’importanza del vinile per l’Acid Tekno e per l’evoluzione del suono che proponi con l’etichetta?
Il vinile è un oggetto magico, mitico. Puoi toccarlo, ascoltarlo, regalarlo, prestarlo, usarlo per fare scratch… La musica deve essere in continuo movimento. Senza vinile, non c’è musica.
Infine, quali sono i tuoi obiettivi a lungo termine per OKUPE? Dove immagini che si dirigerà l’etichetta nei prossimi cinque o dieci anni?
Vogliamo continuare a produrre artisti interessanti e raccontare la nostra storia, com’è realmente iniziata nei primi dieci anni. Lo faremo attraverso vari mezzi: libri, serie, documentari, film… e ovviamente, continuando a produrre ottima musica.
Il 12 ottobre sarai a Torino ospite per M.A.G. del collettivo Sinapsi. Cosa ti aspetti da questo evento e cosa possiamo aspettarci dal tuo DJ set?
Il Bunker è un luogo mitico a Torino, non vedo l’ora di tornare lì! L’ultima volta è stato circa dieci anni fa per il ventennale dell’etichetta OKUPE. Spero che ci sarà tanta gente felice di ascoltare tekno di qualità. Proverò in anteprima alcune tracce che usciranno presto sulle nostre label OKUPE e Tapage Nocturne. Sarà un set di Tekno/Acid Tekno!
Una Connessione Sinaptica a Torino

On October 12th, 2024, the Sinapsi collective is back in Turin with M.A.G., an event that promises to deliver a unique sensory and artistic experience, blending electronic music, visual art, and creative interactions.
Designed to take you on a journey through different sensory experiences, exploring new sounds and expressive forms, M.A.G. (Music Art Gallery) returns to Turin this October, featuring XTECH, a pioneer of European Tekno, who will bring his energetic sound to the immersive space created by the collective.
Sinapsi: The Fusion of Art and Music
Sinapsi was born with a clear goal: to create “synaptic connections” through the simultaneous experience of various art forms. This project came to life with the desire to unite artists from every discipline, offering live performances that break free from the traditional club boundaries. The result is the M.A.G. project, where electronic music merges with interactive installations, art exhibits, and live performances, transforming the space into a true artistic lab.
In just two years, Sinapsi has brought together over 200 artists from a wide range of fields, showing how collaboration between different forms of expression can lead to immersive and unprecedented experiences. The uniqueness of each event lies in the attention to detail, from the setup of the rooms to the musical themes, which create continuity between electronic sounds and artistic atmospheres.
XTECH: The Story of Acid Tekno
The star of the night, XTECH, is one of the most influential names in the European underground scene. His artistic journey began in 1993 in Marseille, where he co-founded the OQP sound system, which quickly left its mark on the free party scene. Interview with XTECH: OKUPE and What’s Coming in 2024
OKUPE PRODUCTION was founded in 1997 and has become a key player in the Tekno scene. What inspired you to create your label, and how do you think it contributed to the growth of the genre?
We started OKUPE PRODUCTION because we wanted a creative space to experiment with our vision of Tekno—a sound that was more unique, almost our own genre. We all had a pretty broad musical background, which allowed us to explore a variety of different sounds together for the first time. I think our contribution to the growth of the genre comes from the diversity of sounds we use and the way we blend different styles.
Looking back, OKUPE has released over 100 vinyls and countless compilations. Is there a project or release you’re particularly proud of? What kind of impact do you think it had on the electronic scene?
All our releases are special to us. As for the impact, I’d say it’s been mostly positive 😊. We love music, and if we can inspire new artists to grow, we’re happy in the end.
Your label has been a launching pad for many emerging artists. How do you choose the talents to add to the OKUPE roster? What do you look for in a new artist or sound?
We love diversity, fresh ideas, and most importantly, a good vibe with the person we bring into our family. It’s that simple—real and authentic.
What are the biggest challenges you’ve faced with OKUPE over the years, especially with the changes in the music industry and how people consume music?
The way people buy and listen to music has changed so much over the years, especially with new generations. That’s been a big challenge.
The Tekno scene keeps evolving. How does OKUPE stay flexible and adapt to these changes while keeping its underground roots?
We always try to keep that “Okupe sound,” but we’re open to trying new things and keeping up with the current evolution of music if it makes sense. But honestly, sometimes it’s great to dig back into the past too.
What’s your take on the role of independent labels in today’s music landscape? Do you think they still have the same influence they used to, or has the dynamic shifted?
Today, it’s easier to work independently with all the tools we have, like the internet and AI tech. If you’re sharp, you can make it happen!
2024 sounds like a big year for OKUPE! Can we expect any special collaborations, new formats, or label-related events?
Absolutely! Just follow us on Instagram to catch some of our updates. We’ve got new artists coming (including our first female artist), big collaborations, re-releases, fresh merch, parties, and more.
OKUPE has a long history of vinyl releases. With the resurgence of the format, how do you see the importance of vinyl for Acid Tekno and for the sound your label represents?
Vinyl is something magical and legendary. You can touch it, listen to it, gift it, lend it, scratch it… Music should always stay in motion. Without vinyl, there’s no music.
Finally, what are your long-term goals for OKUPE? Where do you see the label heading in the next five or ten years?
We want to keep producing interesting artists and telling our story—how it all really started in those first ten years. We’re thinking of doing it in different ways: books, series, documentaries, films… all while continuing to produce killer music!
On October 12th, you’ll be in Turin for M.A.G., hosted by the Sinapsi collective. What are your expectations for the event, and what can we expect from your DJ set?
The Bunker is such an iconic venue in Turin, and I can’t wait to go back. Last time I was there was about ten years ago for OKUPE’s 20th anniversary. I hope it’ll be packed with people ready to enjoy some quality Tekno. I’m planning to test out a few tracks that will be released soon on our labels, OKUPE or Tapage Nocturne. Expect a Tekno/Acid Tekno set!
